[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] At an archery club in a middle school in Yecheon-gun, Gyeongbuk, a third-year senior pulled a bowstring toward a first-year junior, causing injury, and reports have continued that this perpetrator and the archery coach also committed acts of violence.
Earlier, around 10 a.m. on the 4th, at a middle school in Yecheon, third-year student A from the archery club pulled the bowstring targeting first-year student B from about 3 meters away, piercing the junior student's clothes and injuring his back.
Regarding this incident, on the 27th, the Yecheon Office of Education held a school violence review committee meeting, and it was reported that additional reports came in stating, "I was also assaulted by student A and coach C."
So far, four victims have been confirmed through investigations, and including one student who quit archery on the 20th due to A's assault and one student who transferred schools after being assaulted by A in the elementary school archery club, the total number of victims is six. If the victims' claims are true, all archery club players at the school except for A, among the five players, suffered from violence.
In response, the education office has begun additional investigations, and the Gyeongbuk Sports Council has also decided to conduct a fact-finding investigation.
According to JTBC, one of the victims said, "I was assaulted by the student who shot the bow this time, and I had no choice but to quit the sport a year ago," and recently reported this to the school.
Another victim said, "I was bullied by the perpetrator during my elementary school archery club days." This student's mother raised her voice, saying, "There were verbal abuse, assault, threats with the bowstring, and while showering, he came and urinated on my body. How humiliating that must have been."
