Honam University Opens 'Zero Tuition Era' for New Students
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Honam University (President Park Sang-chul), an AI-specialized university, is ushering in a 'zero tuition era' for new students.
Honam University plans to expand and reform its scholarship system by additionally allocating the Hope Scholarship, an internal scholarship, in the 2022 academic year early admission. This move aligns with the recent government announcement to expand national scholarships by 3.5 million KRW for students in the 7th to 8th income quintiles.
To attract outstanding students, Honam University will waive full tuition for four years (8 semesters) for students with a CSAT percentile score of 350 or higher and additionally provide an academic encouragement grant of 3.6 million KRW, paid monthly at 300,000 KRW for one year.
When the expanded scholarship system is applied, most new students will receive a full tuition waiver.
A significant number of students will also receive an additional academic scholarship of up to 3.6 million KRW annually.
Furthermore, all new students who register after passing the early admission will be given an AI Talent Scholarship amount to purchase smart devices (iPads).
Meanwhile, Honam University will conduct early admission interviews online and non-face-to-face to ensure COVID-19 prevention and convenience for students from distant areas.
The non-face-to-face interview allows examinees to answer questions via video using smartphones or PCs in a safe space, free from temporal and spatial constraints.
