SKT and 11st Strengthen ICT Services for Workers with Disabilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Joeslgina] SK Telecom announced on the 27th that it has signed a business agreement with the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled and 11st to improve the working environment for people with disabilities based on ICT.
On the 23rd, SK Telecom, the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, and 11st held a business agreement ceremony and agreed to join forces to support the provision of assistive technology devices necessary for the working environment of disabled workers based on ICT by sharing each institution's experience and technological capabilities.
Based on this agreement, SK Telecom and the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled plan to establish an assistive technology center capable of providing customized services for disabled customers within the year, supporting the more detailed manufacturing of assistive technology devices necessary for the social life of disabled workers.
In addition, 11st will pilot operate an 'assistive technology device exclusive mall' where disabled workers can conveniently browse and purchase devices necessary for their working environment. The mall will register products in various fields, from braille printers and special keyboards for visually impaired workers to hearing aids, driving assistive devices, and boarding and alighting assistive devices.
SK Telecom plans to significantly improve accessibility for disabled workers and companies employing them in the future, establish a foundation for co-growth with small and medium-sized enterprises related to assistive technology devices for the disabled, and continuously support the disabled employment ecosystem.
Cho Hyang-hyun, Chairman of the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled, stated, “We plan to actively cooperate to innovate various assistive technology devices that serve as a pillar for maintaining stable employment of disabled workers.”
