Eun Su-mi Apologizes for 'Seongnam-si Unmarried Female Public Officials List'... "Will Take All Measures to Prevent Harm"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Eun Su-mi, mayor of Seongnam City, expressed her sincere apology to the victims regarding the 'List of 151 Unmarried Female Public Officials.'
On the morning of the 26th, Mayor Eun posted an apology on the city’s administrative portal system, stating, "I found out about the fact last Friday, immediately launched an internal audit, and have requested an investigation."
She added, "I will stay by your side. I will do my best to prevent any further harm," and mentioned that aside from the investigation, an internal inquiry will continue, and disciplinary actions will be taken accordingly.
Mayor Eun reiterated her commitment, saying, "We are taking legal measures to prevent any harm related to the list and are carrying out all necessary actions, including measures to prevent recurrence," promising appropriate follow-up actions.
Earlier, on the 25th, Mr. A, who was formerly Mayor Eun’s secretary, filed a public interest report with the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, stating that an employee working in the personnel department of Seongnam City Hall had created a 'personal information list of 151 unmarried female public officials in their 30s' and handed it over to him.
He explained, "Around mid-2019, while working as a secretary, I received a document titled 'Personal Information of Unmarried Female Employees Aged 31 to 37 at Seongnam City Hall,' which was prepared by personnel department employee Mr. B after reviewing the personnel system for a month," adding, "It was a document of flattering hospitality towards me (Mr. A), who was unmarried and serving as a secretary in the mayor’s office, a core department of city power."
The report included a 12-page A4 document containing photos, names, ages, affiliations, and ranks of 151 unmarried female employees.

In response, Seongnam City stated, "We have requested an investigation by the Seongnam Jungwon Police Station into the document creator and distributor on charges of violating the Personal Information Protection Act."
