View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kum Boryeong] In the real estate investigation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission involving the People Power Party, Representative An Byeong-gil, who is suspected of real estate name-trust fraud, claimed, "If the police conduct a strict investigation into the facts in the future, the results will be clearly revealed." However, he has stepped down from all positions in former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol's presidential campaign and within the party until the investigation results are out.
On the 24th, Representative An issued a statement saying, "Regardless of the facts, I will step down from all positions in the party and campaign I belong to so as not to burden them until the investigation results are announced." Representative An served as the head of public relations in former Prosecutor General Yoon's campaign.
Representative An explained, "Currently, due to a lawsuit filed by my spouse, we are undergoing divorce proceedings to end a marriage that has lasted over 30 years," adding, "The real estate in question (kindergarten) is also one of the issues that emerged during the litigation process."
He continued, "My spouse has operated kindergartens and daycare centers in the region for a long time, but I am not well aware of how they were established. However, during the lawsuit, I raised the issue that the kindergarten under my brother-in-law's (my spouse's elder brother) name is located close to and has a similar name to the kindergartens and daycare centers operated by my spouse, suggesting that the kindergarten under my brother-in-law's name might actually be owned by my spouse."
Representative An also stated, "In response, my spouse submitted a written answer to the court presenting various evidence that the actual owner of the kindergarten is my brother-in-law. Furthermore, my brother-in-law underwent a tax investigation last year regarding the name-trust issue, and he explained to the court that the National Tax Service concluded it was not a name-trust case. Since my spouse did not cooperate with providing personal information consent during the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission’s full real estate investigation, I cannot be sure how accurate the investigation was, and I have never received any request for explanation from the Commission regarding this matter."
