Seoul Future Heritage Historical Photo Contest, 489 Past Photos Featuring Seoul Future Heritage Submitted
Total Prize Money of 2.2 Million Won, Award-Winning Works to Be Featured in Online Photo Exhibition
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 24th that it will hold the Seoul Future Heritage Historical Photo Contest, which invites submissions of old photos containing memories and stories related to future heritage, starting from the 25th.
This contest seeks to collect photos capturing the past appearances of Seoul Future Heritage sites taken up to 2009, aiming to document the history of individual future heritage sites and gather precious memories of citizens related to these sites. The contest accepts various works, including photos of the 489 Seoul Future Heritage sites themselves in their past states, portraits related to future heritage (such as owners or artists), and portraits taken with future heritage sites as backgrounds.
Each participant can submit up to three works. Anyone nationwide who has personally taken the photos or holds the copyright to them is eligible to apply. Winners will be announced on October 15 after a judging committee review, and a total of 2.2 million KRW worth of cultural gift certificates will be awarded for 55 selected works. The chosen works will be used for promoting future heritage and for an online future heritage photo exhibition.
‘Seoul Future Heritage’ refers to modern and contemporary heritage of Seoul that holds shared memories and emotions for many citizens. To foster public consensus on preserving future heritage, Seoul City is promoting various citizen-participation programs such as the Future Heritage Life Tour program, operating the Seoul Future Heritage Hall within the Donuimun Museum Village, and Future Heritage One-Day Classes.
