Seoul City Provides 2 Billion KRW Support for Post-Corona 'New Normal Tourism Content Development'
‘Seoul-style New Normal Tourism Content Contest’ Promotion... Up to 10 to 20 Million KRW Project Funding for a Total of 170 Companies Supported
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Foundation announced on the 23rd that they will implement the ‘Seoul-type New Normal Tourism Content Contest’ project and support 2 billion KRW for the development of new normal Seoul tourism content that fits the changed tourism trends. This tourism content contest is a project that supports business expenses to 170 companies in order to overcome the crisis of Seoul tourism, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19, and to prepare in advance for the reopening of the upcoming global tourism market.
The eligibility for application for the ‘Seoul-type New Normal Tourism Content Contest’ is general travel agencies or domestic travel agencies registered in Seoul, and must be small and medium-sized enterprises with sales of 60 billion KRW or less.
The main content is that companies wishing to participate write and submit a business plan related to new normal tourism content, and after a separate review by the selection committee, they can receive support for business planning expenses and business implementation expenses.
The recruitment fields are collaboration and general fields, and companies wishing to participate can apply by choosing one of the two fields. The ‘collaboration field’ for innovation in the travel industry allows applications if collaborating with one or more related companies (institutions) for tourism content development.
According to the evaluation results, each selected tourism content can receive up to 20 million KRW in the collaboration field and up to 10 million KRW in the general field to support the necessary business expenses for development. For selected companies, 30% of the total amount is paid as business planning expenses in a lump sum, and 70% of the total amount as business implementation expenses is paid after the company executes the expenses and submits supporting documents for verification.
Meanwhile, selected companies will be provided with follow-up support separately from October to December, including professional consulting to enhance marketability, digital transformation for market development, and OTA platform fees (for 50 companies, 10 million KRW per company). The final selected companies will be individually notified through the dedicated webpage of the Seoul Tourism Foundation on October 8.
