WSJ "US Considering Housing Afghan Refugees at Overseas Military Bases Including in Korea"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The U.S. government is reportedly considering a plan to accommodate Afghan evacuees at overseas U.S. military bases, including those in South Korea, according to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 21st (local time).
WSJ reported that bases in Qatar, Bahrain, and Germany have become overcrowded with evacuees from Afghanistan, and this plan is being considered to alleviate the situation.
The locations under consideration by the U.S. Department of Defense include military bases in Virginia, Indiana, and California within the U.S., as well as U.S. military bases in Japan, South Korea, Germany, Kosovo, Bahrain, and Italy, according to U.S. officials.
