[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jucheol In] Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds has caused numerous damages in Gyeongnam, where a heavy rain warning was issued.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters on the 21st, at around 1:47 PM, a retaining wall collapsed near a factory area on Janggi-teo 2-gil in Yangsan City, causing soil and debris to spill onto the road.
The soil covered some parked vehicles, and a utility pole also fell. Fortunately, the fire authorities reported that there were no casualties.
At around 11:19 AM the same day, a report was received by 119 that an outdoor unit on the second floor of a building in Goseong-eup, Goseong-gun, was at risk of falling due to strong winds. Fire authorities dispatched to the scene secured the outdoor unit, and also removed windbreak plywood installed on the exterior glass wall of the building’s second floor, which was deemed at risk of damage.
At 10:10 AM, a report was made about a signboard at a building in Daebang-dong, Seongsan-gu, being at risk of falling, prompting fire authorities to take safety measures. At around 10:30 AM, the basement of a building in Buk-myeon, Uichang-gu, Changwon City was flooded, and fire authorities carried out drainage support work involving approximately 5 tons of water.
Additionally, the Sogye Underpass in Sogye-dong, Uichang-gu was flooded, and numerous reports of malfunctioning traffic signals were received from various locations including Changwon. Due to the heavy rain, outdoor screening clinics temporarily suspended operations. Gimhae City halted operations of the temporary screening clinic installed at Jinyeong Public Stadium from 1 PM that day.

This was because a large part of the stadium in Jinyeong-eup, Gimhae, where a heavy rain warning was issued, was flooded due to the heavy rain. The city anticipates inconvenience for citizens coming for diagnostic tests and plans to resume operations as early as the 22nd once the rain stops and the water recedes. Approximately eight other temporary screening clinics in Gimhae, including the Gimhae City Health Center, are operating normally.
