[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Community Security Council of Hwajeong 3-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Kim Seung-ik) supported sneakers to six marginalized youths facing difficulties due to COVID-19 on the 19th to improve their self-esteem and peer relationships.
According to Seo-gu Hwajeong 3-dong on the 20th, considering that outward appearance greatly influences peer relationships during adolescence, the council members prepared to support low-income youths with sneakers they had wanted to have.
The council members minimized the youths' feelings of rejection and, considering the COVID-19 situation, visited each household to deliver the sneakers.
Chairman Kim Seung-ik said, "I hope this process, in which welfare committee members personally deliver the items and assess the living conditions of each household, will serve as an opportunity for practical support rather than uniform aid," adding, "We will continue to promote events that provide real help to neighbors in need."
