Dasan Beachae Country Club Donates Scholarship Funds to Udang Scholarship Foundation on the 76th Anniversary of Liberation Day

[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Dasan Bea Chae Country Club in Gangjin, Jeollanam-do (located in Doam-myeon, Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do) donated a scholarship to the Udang Scholarship Foundation, which honors the spirit of Udang Lee Hoe-young, the founder of the Shinheung Military Academy who made a significant mark in Korea's independence movement history, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Liberation Day.

The late Chairman Kim Ho-nam (passed away on July 17, 2019), founder of Dasan Bea Chae Country Club and Geunhwa Construction, made great efforts during his lifetime to continuously develop the relationship with the Udang Scholarship Foundation, chaired by former National Intelligence Service Director Lee Jong-chan, whom he greatly respected and who had a strong influence on his values.

The late Kim Ho-nam shared the purpose of the Udang Scholarship Foundation, "right education and a right country," and maintained a long-standing connection with the foundation.

Udang Lee Hoe-young, a descendant of the most prestigious noble family in Joseon, led his six brothers and household members to sell all their property and established the Shinheung Military Academy, which became a cradle for the independence movement after the country fell under Japanese colonial rule. He is remembered as a quintessential example of noblesse oblige.

The late Kim Ho-nam is known as a businessman who earnestly practiced noblesse oblige by founding a school corporation and the Unam Scholarship Foundation, joining the Honor Society, and contemplating "what to leave behind" for nurturing local talent and developing the local community.

At the event, Lee Jong-chan, chairman of the Udang Scholarship Foundation, and his spouse, related officials, Geunhwa Construction CEO Jang Bo-seong, and Kim Yu-rim, general manager of Geunhwa Construction Co., Ltd. and Dasan Bea Chae Country Club and child of the late Kim Ho-nam, attended.

Meanwhile, Dasan Bea Chae Country Club, which had its grand opening on November 22, 2018, is a 27-hole public golf course embracing the clean Gangjin Bay with Deokryongsan and Mandeoksan mountains as its backdrop, known as a premium course with sea views from almost every hole.
