Jeonnam Fire Department and Province Join Hands to Prevent COVID-19 Vaccine Waste
Establishment of a Collaborative Vaccine Management System with 24-Hour Vaccine Temperature Monitoring
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Ma Jaeyoon) and Jeonnam Province have joined hands to prevent the disposal of COVID-19 vaccines.
Jeonnam Fire announced on the 19th that it recently signed a business agreement with the Jeonnam Provincial Health and Welfare Bureau to prevent the disposal of COVID-19 vaccination vaccines and will respond jointly.
COVID-19 vaccines are stored in refrigerators at entrusted medical institutions within the province, and if power outages, refrigerator malfunctions, or door openings cause the temperature to not be maintained, all vaccines must be disposed of.
To prevent such emergencies, IoT thermometers are installed in each vaccine storage refrigerator.
If a temperature deviation (exceeding the 2~8 degrees Celsius range) occurs due to power outages or equipment defects, an alert message is sent to the person in charge at the entrusted medical institution, who then takes measures to maintain the normal temperature.
However, during nighttime, weekends, or vulnerable (late-night) hours, even if the temperature deviation alert is sent to the person in charge, response may be delayed, potentially leading to vaccine disposal.
To supplement this, Jeonnam Fire and Jeonnam Province have joined forces.
This agreement takes advantage of the 24-hour operation system of the 119 Integrated Situation Room.
In the future, temperature deviation alerts from vaccine storage refrigerators will be sent sequentially to the person in charge at the entrusted medical institution and to a dedicated tablet PC installed at the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters 119 Situation Room.
If the person in charge at the medical institution receiving the temperature deviation alert fails to take action after three signals at approximately 5-minute intervals, an alert message will be sent to the 119 Integrated Situation Room, which will then take sequential measures such as contacting the entrusted medical institution, the local health center, and conducting on-site inspections.
Ma Jaeyoon, Chief of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, said, “Jeonnam Fire is mobilizing all capabilities, including on-site support at vaccination centers, to help residents return to their normal daily lives. We will continue to focus firefighting resources on the safety of residents and actively lead efforts to overcome COVID-19.”
