[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] The number of new weekly unemployment insurance claims in the United States has decreased for four consecutive weeks. Despite the spread of the Delta variant virus, the labor market appears to be gradually recovering.
According to Investing.com on the 19th, the figure was 348,000. This is a decrease of 27,000 from 375,000 the previous week. It is also lower than the 363,000 predicted by experts.
The number of new unemployment insurance claims has been decreasing weekly since the 419,000 announced on the 22nd of last month.
The number of people filing for unemployment insurance consecutively also recorded 2.82 million, slightly down from 2.86 million the previous week. This is a downward trend since 3.26 million as of the 29th of last month.
