This visit was arranged to address one of the challenges manufacturing startups face: issues related to mass production of prototypes. The purpose was to hear about excellent on-site cases where the Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy and Innovation is collaborating with small and medium enterprises to overcome these problems and to expand these practices nationwide.
Since its establishment, the Gyeongbuk Center has been working to build a support platform for manufacturing startups by establishing a cooperative system with its partner company, Samsung Electronics.
Since last year, the center has signed partnership agreements with manufacturing-specialized SMEs such as J-Technoledge and Yunil Precision to support mass production of products for manufacturing startups. During this on-site visit, they examined the Gyeongbuk Center’s sourcing director case, which connects mold companies and mass production firms.
The sourcing director system is designed to assist startups when dealing with outsourced manufacturers. Acting as the purchasing team for startups, it supports tasks such as reviewing outsourced production estimates, proposing joint purchases, and managing outsourcing.
Kim Joo-jin, CEO of J-Technoledge, said, "It is not easy for manufacturing startups as well as local SMEs to find stable partners for mass production of prototypes," adding, "It would be great if a system to assist with molding and mass production could be established regionally."
