[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] It has been revealed that large corporations tend to employ a relatively higher number of non-regular workers this year as well.
According to the "2021 Employment Type Disclosure Status" announced by the Ministry of Employment and Labor on the 18th, as of the end of March this year, the total number of employees in large corporations with 1,000 or more employees subject to employment type disclosure was counted at 3,435,000.
Among them, non-regular workers, including dispatched/outsourced workers, fixed-term, and part-time workers, totaled 1,296,000 (37.7%). This ratio decreased compared to 38.1% a year earlier.
The total number of employees in companies with 300 or more employees, including large corporations with 1,000 or more employees, was 4,973,000, with non-regular workers accounting for 1,801,000 (36.2%). This ratio also declined from 36.7% a year earlier.
The non-regular worker usage rate of large corporations with 1,000 or more employees (37.7%) was 1.5 percentage points (p) higher than the average for companies with 300 or more employees (36.2%). This means that the proportion of non-regular workers remains higher in large corporations.
Among large corporations with 1,000 or more employees subject to employment type disclosure, the most common tasks performed by dispatched/outsourced workers were cleaning (310 companies). This was followed by security/guarding (252 companies), management/administration/office work (176 companies), and driving/transportation (154 companies).
Employment type disclosure is a system that publicly reveals the number of workers employed by companies with 300 or more regular employees, categorized by employment type. It has been implemented since 2014 to encourage companies to improve their employment structure voluntarily. Public institutions are excluded from this requirement.
