View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Geum Bo-ryeong] The People Power Party has decided on the candidates for the first half of the 21st National Assembly's Deputy Speaker and seven standing committee chairpersons.
On the morning of the 18th, the People Power Party held a party meeting at the National Assembly and nominated five-term lawmaker Jeong Jin-seok as the opposition party's Deputy Speaker.
Yoon Jae-ok was nominated for the Chairperson of the Political Affairs Committee, Lee Jong-bae for the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, Cho Hae-jin for the Education Committee, Park Dae-chul for the Environment and Labor Committee, Lee Chae-ik for the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, Lee Heon-seung for the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and Kim Tae-heum for the Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee.
Jeong said, "I feel relieved that we have restored the principle of the original organization that we sought to uphold today, and that this was achieved as a result of our struggle."

This selection of standing committee chairpersons follows last month's agreement between the ruling and opposition floor leaders on the redistribution of standing committees. It marks the normalization of the original organization after one year and two months. These candidates will be finally elected as standing committee chairpersons through a vote at the plenary session on the 25th.
