Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority Adds 4 More Forest Buildings to Gwangyang Port Workers' Rest Area
Creating a Comfortable Work Environment by Setting Up a Rest Area Using Modified Containers
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority (President Cha Min-sik) announced on the 17th that it has additionally installed two modified 20-foot container rest shelters each at Gwangyang Port's automobile pier and Hapo general pier for the safety and rest of port workers.
An official from the authority explained that due to the high satisfaction of on-site workers with the six shelters installed last year at Gwangyang Port's container pier and other locations, additional installations were carried out. The shelter's name, Porest, was coined by combining the English words ‘Port’ and ‘Rest’.
Considering the workflow within the pier, the shelters were installed close to the work sites, which is expected to improve the working environment for port workers who previously rested in vehicles or shaded areas within the pier.
In particular, for the convenience of workers, various appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and water dispensers with hot and cold functions are provided, along with safety equipment including fire extinguishers, stretchers, lifebuoys, and automated external defibrillators (AED) to enable quick initial response in case of emergencies, ensuring not only rest but also safety.
