National Assembly Operations Committee Subcommittee Approves 'Law on Reducing the Jurisdiction of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee'
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The National Assembly Steering Committee held an Operations Improvement Subcommittee meeting on the 17th and processed a revision bill of the National Assembly Act that includes reducing the authority of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
The revision bill of the National Assembly Act, which passed the Operations Improvement Subcommittee that day, includes shortening the period for systematic and grammatical review from 120 days to 60 days before a bill reviewed by the Legislation and Judiciary Committee is submitted to the plenary session, and limiting the committee so that it cannot review policy content beyond systematic and grammatical review. The ruling and opposition parties agreed on the 23rd of last month to restrict the functions of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee to systematic and grammatical review.
