"Healthy Mother Passed Away at COVID-19 Home Treatment Center"... Bereaved Family Appeals for Justice
[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A claim has been raised that a healthy mother died without receiving proper treatment at a COVID-19 residential treatment center.
On the 14th, a post titled "Appealing for justice for my mother who died at a COVID residential treatment center" was uploaded on the Blue House's public petition board. The petitioner stated that her 58-year-old mother, Ms. A, tested positive for COVID-19 on the 1st and was admitted to a residential treatment center in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, but passed away around 5:20 a.m. on the 9th.
The petitioner said, "My mother, who had no underlying health conditions and was healthy, died without receiving treatment or even being taken to a hospital at the residential treatment center. This situation is deeply unfair both to her and to us." She added, "Inside the treatment center, two patients shared a small room with two beds, and there was no medical equipment available." She further explained, "Medical staff managed patients remotely via phone calls, often misdiagnosing, and treatment was limited to antibiotics and fever reducers. When a patient was unreachable, they would check the condition by contacting the other patient in the same room."
The petitioner claimed, "Because my father was also in self-quarantine due to my mother's positive diagnosis, there was no way to directly check on her condition, and we received no communication from the residential treatment center." She appealed, "My mother was cremated on the day she died, so we were unable to hold a proper funeral. What other tragedy could be worse than this?"

She also said, "I believe the patient who stayed with my mother knows everything about the situation at the treatment center, but we have no way to contact that person to understand how my mother’s death occurred." She concluded, "With daily confirmed COVID-19 cases exceeding 2,000, I want to know the truth about my mother’s unjust death to prevent further victims."
