Yeongnam Polytechnic College, Establishes Global Food Service Industry Department for 2022 Academic Year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Yeongnam Institute of Technology is launching practical education to cultivate professional talent in the food service industry.
Yeongnam Institute of Technology announced on the 13th that it will establish the ‘Global Food Service Industry Department’ in the 2022 academic year to nurture professional talent in the food service industry.
The Global Food Service Industry Department will be newly established in the 2022 academic year with a capacity of 28 students, aiming to cultivate professional food service managers equipped with complete culinary practical skills through a differentiated curriculum and employment strategies.
The Global Food Service Industry Department offers thoroughly practical, differentiated hands-on training and food service management practice courses prepared for various situations. It provides top-level practical skills education related to the latest trends in the food service industry, including omakase, fine dining menu research and practice, food tour and analysis, Michelin restaurant studies, and molecular gastronomy practice, which were not seen in existing culinary departments.
After graduation, students can work as experts in various fields of the food service industry such as overseas famous restaurants, renowned hotel food and beverage departments, hotel food service business divisions, fast food companies, food service startups, party planners, restaurant consultants, food coordinators, and baristas.
The faculty is composed of practitioners currently working in the field to strengthen on-site response capabilities through practical education demanded by the industry. Additionally, the department plans to operate the only food service startup education program in Korea, allowing students to learn everything about food service management through startup education and support.
Professor Seunghoon Shin of the Global Food Service Industry Department said, “We will cultivate professional food service managers who possess practical skills in both culinary ability and food service management in response to changes in the promising food service industry.” He added, “Based on a differentiated, practice-centered curriculum and industry-active faculty, we will do our best to educate students so they can realize their dreams of professional and systematic food service management.”
