Suncheon City Hosts Nationwide Photo, Writing, and Drawing Contest on the Theme of 'Everyday Peace'
Submission of Works Open Until the 10th of Next Month to Commemorate the '2021 Suncheon Korea-China-Japan Peace Forum'
[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 13th that it will hold a nationwide contest under the theme of ‘Peace in Daily Life’ to commemorate the ‘2021 Suncheon Korea-China-Japan Peace Forum’ scheduled for October.
This contest, themed ‘Finding Peace in Daily Life: Reflecting on and Realizing the Meaning of Peace in Everyday Life,’ invites works in three categories?photography, writing, and drawing?under detailed themes such as ▲moments of peace consciously experienced in daily life, ▲hopes for peace in daily life amid the climate crisis and the post-COVID-19 era, and ▲the peaceful value of Suncheon Bay Wetland, designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.
To evoke nationwide empathy for peace in daily life, the contest will be held in two divisions: student and general. Interested participants must submit their application forms along with their entries in the specified format via email by the 10th of next month.
The city plans to award a total prize money of 5.5 million KRW to 22 winners through a judging process, and the works will be exhibited at the Peace Forum venue. Awardees will be invited to the closing ceremony for the prize presentation.
Meanwhile, beyond peace in security and unification, the city will concretize an active meaning of peace such as coexistence and prosperity in the era of climate crisis and peace of mind by holding the ‘2021 Suncheon Korea-China-Japan Peace Forum’ under the theme ‘Peace in Daily Life Shared Together’ for two days from October 8 to 9 at the Suncheonman International Wetland Center.
The entire forum schedule will be broadcast live on YouTube via Zoom video conferencing.
