Gwangjin-gu Renovates Eco-Friendly Daycare Center with Future Generations in Mind
Hwasong Daycare Center and Jayang 2-dong Daycare Center Green Remodeling Completed: Creating a Safe and Clean Childcare Environment... Selected for Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Project, 17 Sites Underway... Highest Number Among Seoul Districts
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) completed the 'Green Remodeling' construction of two public daycare centers (Hwasong Daycare Center, Jayang 2-dong Daycare Center) earlier this month.
Green Remodeling is a project targeting public buildings that have been in use for more than 15 years after completion, implementing ▲ installation of high-performance windows ▲ insulation reinforcement ▲ establishment of renewable energy systems ▲ installation of high-efficiency heating and cooling systems, to improve energy efficiency and indoor air quality.
Hwasong Daycare Center and Jayang 2-dong Daycare Center had been in use for 15 to 20 years, resulting in aging windows and heating/cooling systems, and poor ventilation. Through this Green Remodeling, the living environment for children was improved by installing high-performance windows, insulation materials, and heat recovery ventilation systems.
Last year, Gwangjin-gu secured a project budget of 6.37 billion KRW, the largest among Seoul's autonomous districts, by having 17 daycare centers selected in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public contest.
Accordingly, the 17 daycare centers completed design services in April this year, began construction in June, and all construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Additionally, nine daycare centers were selected in this year's contest, securing an additional 825 million KRW in national funds, with design work starting in September and completion targeted for next year.
