On the 11th, an anonymous office worker community called 'Blind' posted a message titled 'Bug found in Haagen-Dazs pint.'
The author, Mr. A, said, "Last night, while eating a Haagen-Dazs chocolate-flavored pint, a bug came out. The photos might be disgusting, so please view them carefully," and shared two photos.
The photos showed a bug about the size of a fingernail next to a Haagen-Dazs chocolate-flavored ice cream container that appeared to be more than half eaten.
Mr. A said, "Thinking back, it’s really creepy. I took a bite and felt something strange, so I spat it out and found a large bug... I was really shocked and spat out all the ice cream that was in my mouth. It’s not a small bug, so how could such a big one come out?" expressing disbelief.
He added, "I can’t forget that feeling," and said, "I have reported it to the Consumer Protection Agency and spoke with a Haagen-Dazs representative this morning."
After complaining to Haagen-Dazs Korea, Mr. A said he received a response that "the probability of a bug entering during the manufacturing process is very low." It is also known that Haagen-Dazs offered compensation, including sending new ice cream to Mr. A.
Mr. A said, "I don’t think I can eat that ice cream again, so I declined the offer to send more ice cream and asked them to contact me after confirming the cause of the incident and the response plan," adding, "Now I’m afraid to put anything in my mouth. It feels like it will remain a trauma."

General Mills, the U.S. company that operates the Haagen-Dazs brand, stated, "We became aware of the foreign substance found in a Haagen-Dazs strawberry pint through a customer and take this matter very seriously," adding, "We are cooperating sincerely with the investigation by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and sincerely apologize to customers who experienced inconvenience due to this incident."
However, they did not admit that a caterpillar was found in their product. General Mills explained, "Because 100% confirmation is impossible, this apology is meant to express regret for the inconvenience caused by this incident."
