Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Promotes Edutech Content Support Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 11th that it will promote the ‘Edutech Content Support Project’ in the second half of this year to bridge the educational gap caused by the COVID-19 situation for vulnerable elementary and middle school students in the province.
The Edutech Content Support Project is a special grant project from the Ministry of Education that provides customized content (Korean, English, Math, etc.) and learning devices (tablet PCs) tailored to the current situation and ability level of participating students, utilizing artificial intelligence technology.
The Office of Education plans to support 190 million KRW for content purchase costs and more to 32 elementary and middle schools (about 300 students) wishing to participate.
Using its own budget, the Office of Education will encourage teachers to participate as mentors to improve concentration and learning interest during remote classes, and the Korea Education and Research Information Service (KERIS) will provide feedback on individual content usage records (history, performance).
Last year, the Office of Education also promoted an edutech mentoring project for elementary students due to growing concerns about the academic gap among vulnerable students caused by the COVID-19 situation.
