[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] An article on the website of the Korea Central Daily News in the U.S. referred to American Korean female residents as 'Joseonjing' (a derogatory term for Koreans), sparking outrage among readers.
On the 9th (local time), an article titled "The Atrocity of Joseonjing Who Committed Racial Hate Against a No-Mask White Man at H Mart" was posted on the Korea Central Daily News website.
The article reported that a white man entered the 'H Mart' Arcadia branch, a Korean grocery store near Los Angeles (LA), without wearing a mask, and was met with collective protests from the store manager and other Korean female customers inside, causing him to leave.
When the article was first published, the headline was "H Mart No-Mask White Man Told 'Get Out'... Showcasing the Power of Korean Ajummas." However, a temporarily posted altered version of the article described 'Korean Ajummas' as 'Joseonjing females,' 'crazy Joseonjing,' and characterized their protest actions as 'racial hatred.' The article has since been corrected and reposted.

At that time, the Korea Central Daily News explained, "The article's wording was inappropriately changed due to what is suspected to be a hacking incident."
On the 10th, the Korea Central Daily News stated, "We are tracking the perpetrator believed to be the same individual responsible for the article tampering hacking incident that occurred last month," and added, "The reporter who wrote the original article is a victim of the hacking and unrelated to this matter, so we ask that baseless slander and personal attacks be refrained from."
