Knife Rampage at Seongnam Samsung Electronics Service Center... 40s Suspect Who Stabbed Employee Arrested (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] A man in his 40s who wielded a weapon at an electronics service center employee was arrested by the police.
According to the police on the 10th, the Seongnam Sujeong Police Station is investigating a man in his 40s, Mr. A, on charges of attempted murder for stabbing an electronics service center employee multiple times with a weapon.
Mr. A is accused of visiting a Samsung Electronics service center in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, around 1:30 p.m. that day and stabbing a man in his 30s, employee Mr. B, several times in the shoulder and neck area with a knife. The police responded to the report and apprehended Mr. A nearby as he attempted to flee. It was reported that Mr. B was working as an engineer at the center.
Mr. B was transported to a hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition without life-threatening injuries. Mr. A also sustained injuries during the incident and is receiving medical treatment.
Immediately after his arrest, Mr. A reportedly gave incoherent answers when questioned by the police about his motive. Investigations revealed that Mr. A had prepared the stabbing weapon, a kitchen knife, in advance, but it is not yet known whether he suffers from any mental illness.
The police are gathering detailed information about the incident based on witness statements and plan to investigate Mr. A’s motive once he completes his medical treatment.

The service center posted a notice and temporarily closed immediately after the incident. A Samsung Electronics service center official stated, "The employee was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment and fortunately is not in critical condition," adding, "The police are investigating whether the suspect had any prior acquaintance with the employee."
