KOSPI Starts Slightly Higher... Mixed Trends in Early Trading
KOSDAQ Also Fluctuates Around Stable Range
[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] The KOSPI, which started slightly higher, is showing mixed trends in the early session. The KOSDAQ is also fluctuating between rises and falls shortly after the market opened.
On the 10th, the KOSPI opened at 3,272.44, up 0.37% (12.02 points) from the previous day. It soon turned downward, dropping to 3,257.78 as of 9:21 AM.
In the early KOSPI market, individual investors were the sole net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 300.8 billion KRW. Foreigners and institutions were net sellers, offloading 95 billion KRW and 150.3 billion KRW respectively.
Most sectors were in decline. The banking sector experienced the largest drop at -1.71%. This was followed by non-metallic minerals (-1.06%), food and beverages (-0.84%), and transportation equipment (-0.82%). Pharmaceuticals (2.42%) and medical precision instruments (0.68%) rose.
Among the top 10 companies by market capitalization, Samsung Biologics showed the largest gain at 3.1%. This was followed by Samsung SDI (2.1%), Celltrion (1.6%), LG Chem (0.7%), and NAVER (0.4%). KakaoBank (-2.9%), SK Hynix (-2.1%), Kakao (-1.0%), and Samsung Electronics (-0.4%) declined.
The KOSDAQ showed a similar trend. It started slightly higher at 1,060.90, up 0.08% (0.09 points), then fluctuated. After falling to 1,056.91 at one point, it reversed to an upward trend, recording 1,060.30 as of 9:21 AM.
In the KOSDAQ market, individual investors were again the sole net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 40 billion KRW. Foreigners and institutions sold 30.1 billion KRW and 8.3 billion KRW respectively.
More sectors declined than rose. The internet sector had the largest drop at -2.14%, followed by paper and wood (-0.84%), textiles and apparel (-0.65%), and transportation (-0.64%).

Most of the top 10 companies by market capitalization rose. Seegene had the largest gain at 1.8%, followed by Celltrion Healthcare (1.1%), Celltrion Pharm (0.7%), and Alteogen (0.6%). SK Materials (-1.6%), Kakao Games (-0.7%), and CJ ENM (-0.1%) declined.
