'Diving Icons' Woo Haram and Kim Youngtaek Fail to Advance to 10m Platform Final

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Korea's diving representatives Woo Haram (23, Korea Sports Promotion Foundation) and promising athlete Kim Youngtaek (20, Jeju Provincial Office) failed to advance to the finals in the Olympic 10m platform event.
On the morning of the 7th, at the Aquatics Center in Tokyo, Japan, during the men's 10m platform semifinal of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics diving competition, Woo Haram scored a total of 374.50 points over six dives, placing 16th out of 18 competitors. Kim Youngtaek, making his Olympic debut, scored 374.90 points and ranked 15th.
As a result, both missed qualifying for the finals, which feature the top 12 competitors.
Woo Haram had raised expectations for the finals by ranking 7th out of 29 participants with a total score of 427.25 points over six dives in the preliminary round held the previous day. In the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, he became the first Korean diver in history to reach the finals across all events, finishing 11th. In the Tokyo Olympics 3m springboard final held on the 3rd, he placed 4th, marking the best Olympic result in Korean diving history.

Kim Youngtaek advanced to the semifinals by ranking 18th, the cutoff line, with a score of 366.80 points in the preliminary round.
