Jeollabuk-do announced on the 6th that Baro Tech Synergy Co., Ltd., Ischem Co., Ltd., and Hanwumul Co., Ltd., affiliated companies of the Jeonbuk Defense Venture Center, were selected for the 2021 defense industry projects, including the "1st Weapon System Parts Localization Development Support Project" hosted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
Baro Tech Synergy Co., Ltd. will receive 2.31 billion KRW in government funding to develop a "short-range surface-to-air guided missile Cheonma training engagement simulator" over three years.
Once development is completed, it is expected to replace the military's outdated parts with the latest domestic technology, generating sales of 4.2 billion KRW.
Hanwumul Co., Ltd., selected for defense catering, signed a contract worth 1.46 billion KRW for japchae fried rice and plans to start delivery in September.
Additionally, Ischem Co., Ltd., an affiliated company of the Jeonbuk Defense Venture Center, was selected for the "2021 Defense Venture Support Project" hosted by the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and will receive 300 million KRW in government funding.
Ischem will conduct research on "development of smart sealing material technology for military vehicle fuel tanks" that enables automatic restoration even if military vehicles are exposed to gunfire, preventing fuel loss.
Jeonbuk Province expects to enhance the competitiveness of affiliated companies of the Jeonbuk Defense Venture Center through support in various defense projects this year and to foster new growth in the local defense industry, which was previously a barren area for defense industries.
Meanwhile, the Jeonbuk Defense Venture Center, opened in 2009, is jointly operated by Jeollabuk-do, Jeonju City, and the Defense Technology Promotion Institute. It supports affiliated companies in discovering defense tasks, developing defense technologies, education, and securing sales channels, helping them enter the defense industry market through customized support across all business areas.
