Prosecutors Summarily Indict Kim Heung-guk on Motorcycle Hit-and-Run Charges

According to the legal community on the 5th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office summarily indicted Kim on the 3rd for hit-and-run injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and violation of the Road Traffic Act (failure to take action after an accident).
Summary indictment is a procedure in which a summary order is requested through written examination without referring the case to a formal trial when a fine is deemed more appropriate than imprisonment or detention.

Kim is accused of running a red light and making an illegal left turn while driving an SUV at around 11:20 a.m. on April 24 at the intersection in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, hitting a motorcycle and fleeing the scene. The motorcycle rider is reported to have injured their leg. The police analyzed black box footage, on-site CCTV, witness statements, and the victim's hospital treatment records, concluding that Kim's charges are valid.
