Gwangyang-si, Working Moms and Working Dads Enjoy Vacation Without Worries
Summer Vacation Gwangyang Childcare Center Provides Lunch with 'Gwangyang Halmeoni Bapsang'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that it has been implementing the "Gwangyang Halmeoni Bapsang" project since July, providing lunch to elementary school students using the Gwangyang Childcare Center during the summer vacation.
This project addresses the care blind spots where children of dual-income families are inevitably left alone at home when vacation starts, aiming to ease the worries of working parents.
"Gwangyang Halmeoni Bapsang" is a project supported by the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation, where senior club elders prepare lunch and deliver it to the Gwangyang Childcare Center.
It is a "project encompassing all generations" that creates jobs for the elderly, provides care for children, and allows working parents to work without worry.
The Gwangyang Childcare Centers where the project is implemented include 10 locations: five in Gwangyang-eup (Youth Culture House, Songbo 7th Complex, Deokrye Susia, Deokjin Gwangyang Spring, Changdeok 1st Complex), four in Jungma-dong (Nonghyup Culture Center, Seongho 2-1 Complex, Songbo 5th Complex, Songbo 6th Complex), and one in Gwangyeong-dong (Brownstone Gaya), serving lunch to about 250 children.
Choi Sook-jwa, Director of the Women and Family Division, said, "We will do our best to continuously expand the Gwangyang Childcare Center so that working parents' childcare burdens are relieved and work and family can coexist."
