Yeosu-si Imposes Heavy Fines on Businesses Violating Quarantine Guidelines
Imposed 31.5 Million KRW at 21 Locations, Urging Participation to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Sim Kyung-taek] Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do imposed administrative measures including fines of 31.5 million KRW on 21 hygiene establishments that violated quarantine rules this year, and fines of 7.8 million KRW on 78 users.
To prevent the spread of the COVID-19 infectious disease, Yeosu City implemented the 'Yeosu Citizens Emergency Movement Stop Week' from the 26th to August 1st and conducted special inspections of hygiene establishments.
The special inspection team was organized into six groups of 24 city employees, deploying two groups of eight people daily until 11 PM to focus on compliance with business hours, use of electronic entry logs or simple check-ins, constant mask-wearing, and facility occupancy limits.
A city official stated, “To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and local infections, we ask business owners and citizens to remain vigilant and comply with quarantine guidelines such as wearing masks,” adding, “We hope everyone will participate in preventing the spread of COVID-19 by using the Safe Call system and refraining from visiting other regions during the emergency movement stop period.”
If violations are detected, managers face fines of up to 3 million KRW, users are fined 100,000 KRW, and they are excluded from disaster relief funds, living support funds, and compensation for losses.
