Amid the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing economic downturn, interview videos of two small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) steadily growing through collaboration with Coupang have become a hot topic online.
Recently, Coupang revamped its own communication channel, 'Coupang Newsroom,' and released two interview videos featuring local SMEs growing together with Coupang. They share the difficulties and concerns faced by local small business owners and discuss ways to overcome them.
Yang Chil-sik, CEO of Sunsu Korea, a company specializing in baby wet wipes, recalled, "In the early stages of the business, we struggled because we lacked the specialized skills and personnel to sell products. The biggest problem was having no sales channels to sell our products, even though we could make good products comparable to large corporations."
However, CEO Yang revealed that since joining Coupang in 2015, the number of employees increased from 8 to 30 within five years, and sales grew from around 2.4 billion KRW to 17.9 billion KRW.
Choi Jin-cheol, CEO of Sias, a small food manufacturing company, shared that collaboration with Coupang allowed them to focus on developing high-quality products as the key to their growth. CEO Choi explained, "Through collaboration with Coupang, an online distribution channel was created, forming a new market. Especially by focusing on younger online consumers, our internal organization and mindset have become younger, faster, and more efficient."

A Coupang representative stated, "We will spare no support so that small local businesses can meet more customers and grow bigger through Coupang," adding, "We will continuously strive to be a reliable pillar for small business owners."
