Gimhae City Launches Promotion for UNESCO Listing of Gaya Tumuli Cluster
Gimhae-si in Gyeongnam Province, Jeonbuk Province, Gyeongbuk Province, Gyeongnam Province, Goryeong-gun, Goseong-gun, Gimhae-si, Namwon-gun, Changnyeong-gun, Haman-gun, Hapcheon-gun, the Promotion Team, and the Busan Gyeongnam Milk Cooperative signed a business agreement for the registration of the Gaya Tumuli as a World Heritage Site. View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gimhae City in Gyeongnam announced on the 29th that it has signed a business agreement with 10 local governments in the Gaya cultural zone, the Gaya Historic Tumuli World Heritage Registration Promotion Group, and the Busan Gyeongnam Milk Cooperative to promote the registration of the Gaya Tumuli as a World Heritage site.
The agreement involved Jeonbuk Province, Gyeongbuk Province, Gyeongnam Province, Goryeong County, Goseong County, Gimhae City, Namwon County, Changnyeong County, Haman County, Hapcheon County, the Promotion Group, and the Busan Gyeongnam Milk Cooperative.
Through this agreement, it is planned to insert promotional images on 1ℓ milk cartons sold by Busan Milk until July 2022 to promote the site.
Previously, the Daeseong-dong Tumuli in Gimhae City was selected as a priority candidate for World Heritage registration by the Cultural Heritage Administration in March 2015, but the nomination was deferred in December 2017.
Subsequently, the scope of the tumuli World Heritage registration was expanded from 3 sites to the current 7 sites: Gimhae, Haman, Goryeong, Changnyeong, Goseong, Hapcheon, and Namwon tumuli. A joint business agreement for World Heritage registration was signed with 10 local governments, and after submitting the nomination dossier to the World Heritage Center in Paris, France, in January of this year, it passed the completeness review (format requirements of the application) in March.
