Gyeonggi Tourism Organization to Develop MICE Industry Promotion Plan Within the Year
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization are undertaking a project to develop plans for the advancement of the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) industry.
On the 29th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it held an online kickoff meeting for the research project with the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization to prepare the "Gyeonggi Province-type Mid- to Long-term MICE Development Plan," which includes mid- to long-term development strategies and promotion plans for the high value-added MICE industries such as meetings, incentive tourism, conventions, and exhibitions.
This research project was initiated to establish a customized MICE development strategy for Gyeonggi Province in the "post-COVID-19 era."
The main tasks of the project include ▲analysis of the current status of the MICE industry in Gyeonggi Province ▲analysis of domestic and international MICE industry trends and global trends ▲vision and policy directions for the MICE industry in Gyeonggi Province ▲detailed mid- to long-term development strategies for the MICE industry in Gyeonggi Province.
The province plans to derive long-term promotion plans that can respond to the global development trends of the 4th Industrial Revolution technologies, the UN-SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals), ESG (Environmental, Social Responsibility, and Governance), eco-friendliness, and other paradigm shifts toward strengthening social responsibility, as well as preparatory measures to enhance the global status of the MICE industry.

Choi Yong-hoon, Director of Tourism at the province, stated, "Over the next five years, we will discover various future growth engines for the MICE industry in Gyeonggi Province and derive MICE promotion strategies specialized for the Gyeonggi region. We will gather diverse opinions and policies regarding the MICE industry in Gyeonggi Province and prepare new forms of MICE development plans for the post-COVID-19 era."
