Lee Juho advanced to the semifinals by placing 4th out of 29 participants in the preliminaries held the previous afternoon with a new Korean record of 1:56.77. This time improved his own previous Korean record of 1:57.06, set at the national team selection competition last November, by 0.29 seconds after about eight months.
