Complex Development Around Sangbong Terminal... 999 Apartment Units to Be Built
[Asia Economy Reporter Onyu Lim] The Sangbong 9 District in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, where the Sangbong Intercity Bus Terminal is located, will undergo mixed-use development.
On the 29th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government finalized and announced the redevelopment promotion plan for 83-1 Sangbong-dong. The site is a city maintenance-type redevelopment zone within the Sangbong Redevelopment Promotion District and is designated as a general commercial area. The residential ratio is planned to be 90%. This reflects Seoul’s policy direction of “expanding housing supply” while considering the characteristics of the area, which has large-scale commercial facilities nearby.
The site will be developed as a mixed-use complex including residential facilities such as 999 apartment units and 352 officetel units, as well as non-residential facilities like the intercity bus terminal and public office buildings. Among the 999 apartment units, 197 will be public rental housing, supplied in small units under 60㎡ (exclusive area) and medium units of 84㎡ to ensure social mix and meet diverse housing demands.
According to the announced plan, when the Sangbong Intercity Bus Terminal is reconstructed on the southern side of the site, the existing aging terminal will be modernized. Additionally, the public office building will be developed as a youth startup and youth cultural facility, to be operated by Jungnang-gu.
