View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Hanyang University announced on the 27th that a research team led by Professor Ahn Hee-jun of the Department of Organic Nano Engineering has developed a cathode material capable of charging aqueous zinc-ion batteries within 30 seconds.
The research team developed vanadium nanofibers with high electrical conductivity and succeeded in compositing them with conductive polymers. This material can fully charge aqueous zinc-ion batteries within 30 seconds, and the research team expects it to be widely used in wearable electronic devices in the future.
Aqueous zinc-ion batteries are safer and less prone to explosion than conventional lithium batteries, but have been criticized for their short lifespan due to the low electrical conductivity of vanadium oxide used as the cathode material.
