'Local Tripartite'... Launch of Gyeonggi-do Delivery Industry Workers' Council
Province, 3 Labor Unions, 9 Companies Participate... Ongoing Consultations on Worker Safety Issues
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] A permanent consultative body for the platform delivery industry involving Gyeonggi Province, labor unions, and private companies will be established.
On the 26th, according to Gyeonggi Province, the official name of the working-level organization was decided as the 'Gyeonggi-do Platform Delivery Industry Workers' Council.'
The council will discuss measures to protect the rights and interests of workers in the related industry, promote detailed projects, and ensure the safety and rights protection of delivery workers beyond existing agreements. Specific agendas will be decided at a special meeting to be held in early August.
Additionally, the plan is to establish a 'regional social dialogue model' to find practical solutions to conflicts and disputes related to the platform delivery industry among stakeholders, overcoming the weaknesses of the previously government-led top-down policy approach.
