AfreecaTV Reports 21.5 Billion KRW Operating Profit in 2Q, Up 97% YoY
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] AfreecaTV announced on the 26th that it recorded sales of 65 billion KRW and operating profit of 21.5 billion KRW in the second quarter of this year. These figures represent increases of 44% and 97%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
In the first half of this year, sales and operating profit reached 125.8 billion KRW and 41.1 billion KRW, respectively, marking increases of 46% and 114% compared to the first half of last year.
In the second quarter, a significant rise in advertising revenue drove the performance growth. The launch of the new advertising management platform, AfreecaTV Ads Manager (AAM), led to an increase in platform advertising revenue.
Additionally, with the opening of e-sports leagues and the release of new games, advertiser demand expanded, resulting in substantial growth in content-type advertising revenue.
