Governor Lee, along with Kim Hak-dong, Mayor of Yecheon County, conveyed congratulations and encouragement to Kim Je-deok's father.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo praised Kim Cheol-gyu, father of Kim Je-deok, saying, "He participated in the Olympics and brought Korea its first gold medal at the youngest age. Throughout the competition, his energetic shout of 'Korea Fighting' was impressive and very proud."
He added, "We, along with 3 million residents of Gyeongbuk, will cheer so that the skills honed so far can be demonstrated in the men's team event on the 26th and the men's individual event on the 31st."
Kim Hak-dong, Mayor of Yecheon County, also said, "I hope our proud 'Son of Yecheon,' Kim Je-deok, will win the remaining two gold medals and gift them to the people exhausted by COVID-19."
