1314 New COVID-19 Cases Nationwide by 6 PM... 28 Fewer Than Yesterday
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] As the fourth wave of COVID-19 continues, confirmed cases have surged nationwide.
According to health authorities, Seoul city, and other local governments on the 23rd, from midnight to 6 p.m. that day, a total of 1,314 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported nationwide. This is 28 fewer than the 1,342 cases recorded at the same time the previous day.
As of 6 p.m., the daily confirmed cases have shown the following numbers since the 6th of this month when cases first exceeded 1,000: 1,006 → 1,010 → 1,039 → 1,050 → 922 → 921 → 903 → 1,288 → 1,263 → 1,192 → 1,143 → 1,061 → 1,042 → 987 → 1,442 → 1,287 → 1,342 → 1,314.
Looking at the regions where confirmed cases were reported that day, the Seoul metropolitan area accounted for 876 cases, representing 66.7% of the total, while non-metropolitan areas accounted for 438 cases, or 33.3%.
The number of confirmed cases by city and province are as follows: Seoul 408, Gyeonggi 394, Busan 113, Gyeongnam 82, Incheon 74, Daegu 48, Daejeon 37, Gangwon 35, Chungbuk 27, Jeonbuk 23, Gyeongbuk 19, Chungnam 18, Jeonnam 13, Jeju 9, Ulsan 8, Gwangju 4, Sejong 2. Confirmed cases were reported in all 17 cities and provinces nationwide.

The number of new confirmed cases to be announced at midnight on the 24th is expected to increase further to the 1,500 range, possibly reaching around 1,600. On the previous day, 288 additional cases were reported after 6 p.m.
