Gwangju Seo-gu Nongsung 2-dong Welfare Council Conducts 'Housing Environment Improvement Volunteer Activities'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Community Security Council of Nongsung 2-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Chairman Do Deok-young) has been steadily carrying out housing environment improvement projects for vulnerable households, taking care of residents' health amid the heatwave.
On the 22nd, the Nongsung 2-dong Security Council announced on the 23rd that it conducted volunteer cleaning activities by visiting vulnerable households with accumulated trash inside their homes, together with the Nongsung 2-dong Shoulder-to-Shoulder Discovery Group and local welfare activists, utilizing local human resources for sharing and volunteer work.
The household was identified as a vulnerable family by our neighborhood's "Honorary Social Welfare Officers," including water meter readers and beauty salon workers. The home was filled with food waste and household garbage, emitting a foul odor, and mold was growing in various places, creating a dreadful living environment that threatened their health.
Council members promptly removed the trash outside for separate collection and directly organized and tidied up the storage to ensure the subject could live comfortably and cleanly as soon as possible, thoroughly cleaning the unsanitary environment.
Afterwards, the council and welfare team provided necessary household items such as a refrigerator and drawer chest to the household and plan to monitor continuously to maintain a clean environment through regular welfare checks.
Chairman Do Deok-young said, "Seeing the families happy and thankful as we sweat like this makes me proud," adding, "We will continue to discover households in difficulty and strive in council activities so they can smile."
