Ship Runs Aground Near Udo, Seogwipo... Rescue Operation Underway
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] At around 8:57 a.m. on the 22nd, a fishing boat carrying 7 crew members ran aground near Hagosudong, Udo, Seogwipo, and the Coast Guard is currently conducting a rescue operation.
After receiving a distress call from the fishing boat, the Seogwipo Coast Guard immediately dispatched all available forces to the scene, including helicopters, patrol vessels, coastal rescue boats, and rescue teams. They also requested cooperation for the rescue from related agencies such as the fire department and nearby ships.
According to the Coast Guard, a wind and wave advisory has been issued for the local sea, and due to severe weather and high waves, they are experiencing difficulties approaching the distressed vessel.
