View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 22nd that it presented cases of applying post-quantum cryptography (PQC) in industrial sites at the '2021 International Post-Quantum Cryptography Conference (PQCrypto 2021)' held online and at the Daejeon Convention Center from the 20th to the 22nd.
Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) is an encryption technology that enhances security through complex mathematical algorithms that would take billions of years to solve even with a quantum computer. LG Uplus, together with Cryptolab and Cowiver, applied lattice-based post-quantum algorithms to ROADM (Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer) optical transmission equipment for the first time in the world in June last year, significantly strengthening the security of dedicated customer networks.
Subsequently, as part of the Digital New Deal project, they succeeded in applying optical transmission equipment and cryptographic authentication technology utilizing post-quantum cryptography to dedicated lines used in industrial and medical sites. Starting this year, they plan to apply post-quantum cryptography to dedicated networks in the public sector (Chungnam Provincial Government), entertainment, and energy-related companies.
LG Uplus introduced its previous cases of applying post-quantum cryptography in industrial sites and announced plans to continue related investments and technology development to enhance security levels in commercial communication networks.
At PQCrypto 2021, in addition to LG Uplus, the views of the French National Cybersecurity Agency (ANSSI) on the transition to post-quantum cryptography and cases of utilizing post-quantum cryptography in industrial sites from countries such as Japan and China were introduced.
