Social Distancing Strengthened and Remote Work Continues in Hot Weather
Popularity of Appliances That Don’t Use Direct Heat
Event from 22nd to 28th Featuring High-Speed Blenders, Electric Ranges, Coffee Machines, and More
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The trend in home appliance purchases has changed amid the heatwave with daytime temperatures nearing 35 degrees Celsius.
Emart announced on the 22nd that with the continuation of social distancing and remote work during the hot weather, so-called 'No Fire' appliances that do not use direct heat are gaining popularity.
Looking at the sales of kitchen appliances sold at Emart from July 1 to 14, the sales growth rates of products that do not use direct heat were remarkable: ▲Electric ranges 27.7% ▲Oven ranges 37.5% ▲Coffee machines 10.9% ▲High-speed blenders 25.2% ▲Juicers 222% ▲Multicookers 233.6%. On the other hand, gas range sales decreased by about 10%.
Emart will hold a kitchen appliance event from the 22nd to the 28th featuring high-speed blenders, electric ranges, coffee machines, and more. All blenders from Tefal and Philips will have an additional 15% discount, and Electrolux electric ranges can be purchased for between 1,490,000 KRW and 2,290,000 KRW. Illy coffee machines are also sold for 148,000 KRW. Emart added that it will introduce a 36-month interest-free installment plan for all electric ranges in the second half of this year, allowing customers to purchase high-priced appliances without burden.
Meanwhile, Emart has consecutively launched new products of air fryers and Steakmaster, the epitomes of 'No Fire' appliances. Air fryers, popular since 2017, are cooking appliances that can make crispy fried dishes using hot air without oil. The new products launched by Emart this time are the 'Honjok 3.5ℓ Air Fryer,' 'Electroman 5.3ℓ Air Fryer,' and 'Electroman Visible Air Fryer.' The 'Electroman Steak Grill,' released in June, is also popular as it allows easy cooking of thick meat and fish.
