Seoul Design Foundation Announces Recruitment for 1st DDP Brand Product Development Young Designers
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Design Foundation announced on the 22nd that it will select 20 youth teams to participate through the 1st DDP Brand Product Development Youth Designer Recruitment.
The Seoul Design Foundation is creating DDP as a platform to nurture young designers, providing opportunities to young designers who have innovative ideas but face difficulties from product commercialization to actual sales, and supporting the development of unique DDP products.
Eligible participants are teams or individuals composed of young designers aged 19 to 39 as of the announcement date (including university and graduate students).
Submission requirements include product design ideas that are sustainable and feasible for future realization, and must be new products excluding award-winning works from other companies or institutions and existing mass-produced products.
The foundation will select up to 20 teams through the first screening, then after expert mentoring, produce prototypes of the ideas, and finally select the top 5 teams through expert evaluation and citizen preference assessment.
The up to 20 teams selected in the first screening will receive various benefits such as 2 million KRW for product development, expert mentoring workshops, and opportunities to participate in the DDP Design Fair exhibition.
The final 5 selected teams will have the opportunity to sell their products at the lifestyle select shop ‘DDP Design Store’ at the end of this year. The foundation plans to continue follow-up support such as product design, commercialization and production/mass production, design application, and support for sales entry both online and offline at the DDP Design Store to help their products become representative DDP products.
