Professor Lee Yuri Appointed as Chairperson of Seoul Arts Troupe
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 21st that it has appointed Lee Yu-ri (57), a professor majoring in Arts Management at Seoul Institute of the Arts, as the chairman of the Seoul Arts Troupe Foundation. The term is three years, from today until July 20, 2024.
Newly appointed Chairman Lee Yu-ri is the first female professional performance planner in Korea and a musical expert who has extensively covered the performance field, academia, and policy research. In particular, in the late 1990s, she produced modern and high-quality performances based on Korean themes such as the Seoul Arts Troupe's original musical plays "Bari" and "Taepung." She served as the creative producer for the original musical "Winter Sonata," which entered the Japanese market for the first time domestically, dedicating herself to the development of culture and arts both at home and abroad.
Along with active field activities, she expanded her scope to nurturing artistic talent by establishing a musical department at Chung-Ang University of Cultural Industries. Until recently, she served as the chairman of the Korea Musical Association, working hard to reorganize the musical market ecosystem and secure the association's self-sustainability.
