Wanju-gun Strengthens Child Abuse Safety Net with Comprehensive Measures
103 Cases of Timely Response to Child Abuse... Discussion and Decision on Measures at the Child Welfare Deliberation Committee
[Wanju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk, has been establishing a meticulous child safety net by promptly responding to over 100 cases of child abuse in the past 10 months since October last year.
According to Wanju-gun on the 20th, the county established a Child Protection Team last October, consisting of a dedicated child abuse public official and six child protection specialists. They have strengthened expertise through professional training and field experience accumulation, creating a public-centered child protection system.
Since its launch, the Child Protection Team has judged 103 out of 120 reported cases as child abuse and promptly decided on measures such as returning the child to their original family or placing them in foster care.
Additionally, the Child Welfare Deliberation Committee discusses and decides on child protection measures and establishes individual management plans. The committee is composed of 12 field experts from various fields, including lawyers, doctors, professors, police officers, and representatives from child welfare specialized organizations.
Furthermore, Wanju-gun operates a child abuse response information linkage council composed of practical experts from the police, education support office, and child protection specialized institutions on an as-needed basis. It has also designated Maumsarang Hospital and Daejain Hospital as dedicated medical institutions for child abuse to support examinations and treatments for affected children.
