[Breaking] Social Distancing Level 4 Also Allows In-Person Religious Events with Fewer Than 20 People
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Chun-hee] In the current Level 4 social distancing measures, in-person regular religious services such as worship, Mass, and Buddhist ceremonies, which were previously prohibited, will now be allowed.
On the 20th, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters held a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum at the government Sejong office video conference room and made this decision.

This allowance for in-person religious events takes into account a recent administrative court ruling partially accepting the request to suspend the ban on in-person worship services submitted by 14 churches in Seoul and Gyeonggi from the 16th to 17th. Accordingly, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters decided that, starting from the 20th, religious facilities that have not violated quarantine rules (administrative sanctions) or been closed due to confirmed COVID-19 cases under Level 4 social distancing will be permitted to hold in-person religious events at 10% of total capacity or fewer than 20 people.
